Some are better for outdoor swimming, while others should stay at the pool.
Whether you’re heading to open water for a next triathlon training session or hitting up an indoor pool for a swimming workout, the one thing you can’t forget are your goggles, preferably a pair that won’t glide off your face, feel too tight, or constantly force you to drain water from them.
If your go-to ones won't cut it, or you're looking to buy your first set this list will help you narrow down your options based on your needs and the helpful reviews of dozens of swimmers who have tested them out already. When shopping for swimming goggles, it’s important to take more than style into account, says Hailey Hewitt, former Division 1 swimmer and current coach for the Asphalt Green swim team in New York City. “Depending on your activity, the type of goggles may vary, but properly fitting pairs that feel good on your face and will last a long time are always best,” says Hewitt.
A comfortable fit won’t be too tight, but not loose either. “Goggles should make a seal around the eyes with a slight suction to prevent water from leaking in. When testing goggles, you should be able to create this seal without the straps being [irritatingly] tight,” Hewitt explains.
Another thing you should consider is how often you’ll be swimming. “For competitive athletes training multiple times a week, you should look for something comfortable enough to be worn for long hours in the pool, leak-proof, and with sleek lines to create minimal resistance.” Occasional swimmers or those who are just beginning, on the other hand, may find wider lenses more enjoyable since they provide a larger range of vision, says Hewitt.
Other features that’ll keep you swimming sans irritation include anti-fog coating and mirrored lenses with UV protection that’ll protect your eyes from the sun. It seems like you may have to check a ton of boxes to find the best swimming goggles, but no worries we’ve found the 20 best pairs for you based on Amazon user reviews.

Rave Review: "I've been a lap swimmer for a long time, and these are probably the most comfortable goggles I've ever had. The rubber gasket is fairly wide and soft. I usually buy junior goggles because I have a small face and narrow nose; these fit perfectly, with very little raccoon eyes afterwards."
You might want to stay away from these if you're allergic to silicone, but otherwise they're an affordable find that offers UV protection, anti-fogging tech, and a snug fit.
Rave Review: "Finding an affordable, comfortable, quality pair of goggles for an adult isn't easy, and I really love these. Rave Review: "My 9-year [old] daughter really likes these goggles. They are easy to adjust and don't slip around or loosen up like some other goggles she has tried on. Since she is on a swimming team, she uses the goggles a lot and I'm glad she found a pair she likes to wear."
The inner lenses on these are coated with an anti-fog treatment.
Rave Review: "Although they are well constructed and fit very comfortably they're still very light. I've kept the goggles in the case they came in when not using them and over the past 3 months, they've remained scratch free. The anti-fog protection still works fine despite everyday use in a saltwater pool."
Hewitt says many of her swimmers opt for Black Hawks since they offer soft silicone gaskets, adjustable straps and nose pieces. Plus, they're available with either clear or mirrored lenses.
Rave Review: "I've been competitive swimming most of my life and you can't really go wrong with TYR.Pro tip. If you dry off goggles after use and store them in a open air area (not inside of a gym bag) the anti fog will last longer."
