Hudson Valley experts share advice that will keep you smiling.

The first step to a sensational smile is healthy teeth. And, it all begins with ongoing good dental care to prevent problems before they even start. When problems do arise, Hudson Valley dental experts can quickly get you back on track and restore your healthy smile. They also stress the importance of maintaining your dental appointments, including check-ups, during the pandemic and can do so safely. I’m nervous about going to the dentist for a smile makeover. What measures are you taking to keep patients safe during the pandemic? The safety of our patients is our number one priority. We have taken extensive measures to make sure we meet or exceed New York State and CDC guidelines for infection control and the safety of our patients and staff. For example, we use medical-grade air filters and an extraoral suction unit to reduce aerosols. We use a fogger to sanitize each treatment room between patients. And, everyone who works in our practice uses personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent any cross contamination between patients. At our practice, patients will find a full range of cosmetic and implant dentistry, including All on Four dental implants, and full mouth smile makeovers with the latest porcelain veneers. B & D Dental Excellence Mark Dunayer, DMD 1 Crossfield Ave, Suite 301 West Nyack 845.579.3627 www.rocklandsmiles.com How do you use laser treatments and what are the benefits?

There are many uses and benefits of non-invasive laser technology. A primary dental treatment, for example, is in providing non-surgical periodontal treatment that is both effective and comfortable. In gum recontouring, a dental laser can remove the excess gum tissue to reveal more of your natural teeth. In treating periodontal issues, a dental laser allows us to remove the diseased gum tissue and pockets of bacteria to help the gum heal and reattach to the tooth. In addition to innovative treatments on teeth, gums, and bone, we use laser treatments to treat sleep disorders, such as reducing the effects of sleep apnea or decreasing snoring (Nightlase®), as well as cosmetic treatments such as eliminating or reducing wrinkles in the cheeks and bags under the eyes (Smoothlase®), and plumping the lips (Liplase®).

Dental Design Studio Richard K. Whalen, DDS 46 Fox St, Suite 3 Poughkeepsie 845.452.7653 www.dentaldesignstudio.net How can I achieve the beautiful smile I’ve been dreaming of with a simple “bleaching” procedure?

Dental bleaching can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a solid try.

Michael Koumas, DDS 4 Hudson Valley Professional Plaza Newburgh 845.562.1108 www.drkoumas.com What are Dental Veneers? How can they improve my smile and what can I expect from choosing this treatment option?

Dental Veneers are thin coverings that are placed over the front (visible) part of the tooth. They look like natural teeth. Dental Veneers can be used to correct a wide range of dental issues, such as teeth that are stained and can’t be whitened by bleaching, or chipped or worn teeth. Veneers, which are definitive restorations that are highly stable with great longevity, usually take two clinical visits to complete at approximately one hour per visit. Veneer restorations may last up to 20 years if properly maintained and they are color stable over their life span. Give yourself the smile you always wanted with the simple solution of Veneers.

We provide dental care for families with state-of-the-art technology and concern for every patient. Keeping patients relaxed is key. We even have a television in every room so patients remain calm throughout their visits. It really makes me happy to work with someone who has always been afraid of the dentist and give them a good experience. The best thing I can do is to change a patient’s perspective of the dentist.

Windsor Dental Center Steven P. Stern, DMD 375 Windsor Hwy, Suite 400 New Windsor 845.565.6677 www.windsordentalpc.com What is the difference between dentures and Teeth Tomorrow?

Dentures are made of acrylic with acrylic teeth. Dentures need to be removed daily for hygiene purposes and they cover the roof of your mouth, both of which contribute to an unnatural/artificial feel. Dentures can cause bone loss and over time as the bone shape changes, dentures slip because they no longer fit. Teeth Tomorrow is non-removable full arch bridge that replaces teeth and gum tissue; it is milled from a single piece of non-porous Zirconia anchored to dental implants. They don’t slip, fall out, chip, crack, or attract odors. They look beautiful and let you smile and eat the foods you love with confidence.
