SILCHAR: Work for supplying potable water to every household in Silchar urban area under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is going on in full swing. The municipal area of Silchar town has been primarily divided into two parts. For the first phase Rs 177.47 crore has been earmarked. Five overhead reservoirs are being constructed which will have the storage capacity of 98 lakh 75 thousand litres water throughout the day. There would be two overhead reservoirs in Hailakandi Road stretch of Silchar town, one with 10 lakh 25 thousand litres capacity and the other with 34 lakh litre capacity. A source in the AMRUT Water Supply Project said that the work of pipeline connection in Ward number 15, 16, 18 and 19 was almost complete and there is every possibility that the formal inauguration might be done in next month.
