Resilience helps deal with difficult challenges with flexibility and creativity. The Resilience Series is open to anyone interested in exploring art as a healing practice. Bio: Cabinet of Curiosity was founded in 2017 to serve as a vehicle for celebration and ritual; theatrical events defined by moments of wonder, images of hope, and audience interaction in unexpected locations. These events embrace sophisticated puppetry, handmade devices, original music, and dynamic collaboration techniques to develop immersive productions which transform strangers into communities. Cabinet has sustained an enterprise of integrity, education, and inclusion guided by our mission and the vision of a diligent attentive board and a diverse collective of artists and partners. Cabinet’s theatrical work is intrinsically shaped by inventive investigations of universal questions orbiting the mystery of the divine. Our rituals and celebrations offer an important opportunity to reflect on our purpose. In our 5 years, we have accomplished 11 theater productions, 9 outdoor celebrations, and 3 dozen spectacle events. Partnerships and collaborations have included The Shedd Aquarium, Mayor Lori Lightfoot, The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Chicago Park District, the 606, The Lurie Children’s Hospital, The Chicago Puppetry Festival, The Actors Gymnasium, The Blu Rhythm Collective, The Happiness Club, University of Chicago, and Chicago Soul Spectacular. We began a robust training program in 2019, The School of Celebration, and it has fostered over 30 emerging artists, directors, and performers in the last 4 years. This school is central to our work as it supports diversity in the arts through an intensive ritual apprenticeship program that trains emerging college-age artists into cultural leaders. We remained very innovative and active during Covid. It's critical to our mission every participant is paid a livable wage per hour for design, rehearsal, and performance.
